For those curious, the Brink PS3 update patch (BLUS30310) is for 3.50 Firmware with the SFO being 3.60, however, similar to Mortal Kombat the game’s EBOOT file shows 3.55 as the PS3 Firmware version.

PS JailBreak Warns Buyers Not to Update Past 3.41 PS3 Firmware

A few days back the PS JailBreak folks [url=http://www.ps3news.com/PS3-Hacks/ps-jailbreak-warns-of-clone-ps3-modchips-offers-dealer-listing/]warned[/url] buyers about less expensive clone PS3 modchips, including the [url=http://www.ps3news.com/PS3-Hacks/x3jailbreak-the-first-ps-jailbreak-clone-arrives-for-ps3/]x3JailBreak[/url] and the [url=http://www.ps3news.com/PS3-Hacks/rumor-x3jailbreak-ps-jailbreak-clone-fake-ps3key-mod-arrives/]PS3Key[/url] USB modchip, and today they sent out a wave of warning e-mails to those who pre-ordered the device not to update their PS3 Firmware beyond version 3.41 until it is confirmed safe to do so.

TQCast.com (linked above) confirms receiving one of these such e-mails, and reports it as containing the following notice, to quote:

To quote: This post will deal with the hardware required to trigger the PS3 hypervisor memory access exploit. The purpose of the hardware is to stop the PS3 from saving a change to a value that we don’t want changed. The PS3 saves this changed value by writing the value to RAM. Therefore in order to stop it from saving the changed value we need to stop this write from occurring.

The PS3 sends the write command to the RAM over some control lines, so we interfere with these control lines when the write command is sent. The result we want is having the PS3 think it has successfully written the value to RAM, but the RAM didn’t receive the write command due to our interferen
